Reference area printers and paper

The printer screen near Core 1 keeps decalibrating (is that a word?) and so the users are having trouble selecting their print jobs. If they are able to select them, then the arrow will not go to click the print button. It has been calibrated several times and IKON is not sure at what point it goes out of whack. They are ordering an new interface screen which should be here in a couple of days. In the meantime, there is an 'out of order' sign on the printers and IKON will continue to check it until the new part comes in.
On a more positive note: I requested that IKON give us a case of paper and this time they actually said yes! The printers near Core 2 have been jamming quite a bit and IKON said they will do that if the paper trays are low. So if we run out of paper, you can find our stash just inside the door behind the Ready Reference section. It is on the bottom shelf of the black bookcase on the left.

InfoPrint Job not there?

From Kelly Vickery:

If you are having problems with your job not showing up on the printer in the Reference Office area, I offer my apologies. If you are not having problems then I'm glad for you and read no further.

In running some tests I changed something in the driver which has affected all of you. The problem is that some print jobs are going to the printer and being held in an account named "troll" -- something you wouldn't expect to happen, I know. If your print out is not there then press the Held Jobs button on the screen and you might find it in the Troll account. I've changed things back so this should not happen, but the change may not propagate to your computer yet.

If this is still happening to you then it may require you to log off and back on your computer. If that doesn't fix it then do the following:

1) Click > Start > Printers and faxes.
2) Find WTY2NPRT1 on the list and "right" click it.
3) Click "printing preferences"
4) click "other options" tab
5) click "Print and Hold..." button
6) click "Reserve" button on and off.
7) Click "ok" then "Apply" then "ok".

Or if you prefer, give me a call and I can assist you.

Sorry for all of this.

Printer Queues

Good morning,

Alas, sometime over the weekend, our trusty Reference Services printer (aka WTYrefprt2_PS3) disappeared. Poof! After extensive testing (hit-or-miss random printing, actually), I think these are the local printers available to us now -->

  • WTY2EL1 (serials)
  • wty1ec772_PS3_Color (office printer by the door)
  • wty1ec772_PCL_Black_Only (same office printer by the door)
  • WTYrefdesk on libprintsrv1 (reference desk)

Thanks,
Jen

So Long, Bob Marley

As many of you know, the printer/scanner/fax/copier near the coffee pot has been removed.  The Design Library has been without any printing and scanning at all, and the only working c772 in the system (printer with a scanner) with other printing alternatives is this one in Reference.  So, IT took it over to the Design Library so they have something to use until the printers start coming in on May 31st.

Bob Crovo says that a printer labeled WTY2EL1 has been installed on everyone's computers in the north wing of the WTY second floor - but let him know if he missed yours. This prints to the Lanier color printer in Serials. This is a stopgap to provide color printing until the new printers arrive.
